Rolled over!

Wednesday May 23rd

First off I have to point out the adorable onesie Keira wore today… it was made by my friend Karen who has just started a business making screenprinted shirts – check out her business website

Tonight Keira was doing some tummy time on her playmat.

Then she flopped herself to her side to watch herself in her mirror

She started to try to flip herself over

The next thing we know she’d rolled herself to her back!

So at 14 weeks… 5 weeks corrected age… Keira rolled from belly to back for the first time! I put her back on her belly to see if she could repeat her feat… she tried but didn’t succeed the second time

Tuesday May 22nd

Keira fell asleep cuddling her stuffed monkey rattle today… It was so cute I had to get Dan to take a picture!

She was also pretty cute today playing in her bouncy seat

Keira woke up happy and full of smiles at 11am today… unfortunately she slept until then because she didn’t sleep between 3 and 7am I was up with her from 3-4 and then Dan was up with her from 4-5:45 and I was up with her since 5:45 until I got her to sleep at 7am…

Saturday May 19th

Warning – this post is very pic/video heavy!

This morning Keira hung out with Daddy and I went to my friend’s place to try out my new photo backdrops with her girls Jeena and Maria. Here are a “few” of the pics I took – they’re so cute it’s hard to narrow the pictures down!

Keira played on her playmat for over an hour tonight. Dan got all excited and called me over because he thought Keira was going to roll over… she got really close but didn’t make it over.

We also learned tonight that she loves to play “airplane” and being lifted high up into the air.  Stops crying right away.

I was rocking Keira to sleep tonight… she’d already eaten… but decided that she liked her hand too and tried to stick her whole hand in there.  She also sucked her tongue for the first time.

Thursday May 16th

A friend of mine from high school moved from Ottawa to Edmonton in December – between colds, my not feeling well with the pregnancy and Keira’s early arrival we hadn’t had a chance to get together yet!  It finally worked out and Megan came over for dinner and a visit with Keira, Dan and I.  Unfortunately Keira was in a TERRIBLE mood and screamed most of the visit.  Hopefully next time (which better not take so long to happen!) she’ll be in a better mood!

Wednesday May 16th

Now that the weather is getting nicer (fingers crossed… it DID snow here on May 30th while we were on our house hunting trip 2 years ago) Dan decided to take the snow tires off. Little problem – they didn’t want to come off. No matter what he tried – including hitting them with the blunt end of the axe – they didn’t budge at all… they were rusted on there GOOD. Luckily we have good friends – After Dan ran into our friend Dawn at Timmies and mentioned his problem she talked to her husband Nick… who came over with a sand mallet and they got our summer tires on the car in no time! Their daughter Hannah came in to play with Keira while Dan and Nick were working on the car. Keira was a bit cranky so I didn’t get a chance to take any pictures… although Hannah DID manage to get Keira to quiet down and fall asleep on her play mat… we should keep Hannah

3 Month Birthday

Tuesday May 15th

For Keira’s 3 month (1 month corrected) Birthday we brought her in to get weighed and she’s now 3385g (7lbs 7.4 oz) and 47.9cm (18 7/8 inches) long!  She’s getting stronger at holding her head up, she’s smiling, reaches for, holds and bats at toys, she can bear weight on her legs and can lift herself up on her forearms while on her tummy.  Keira has slept 5 hours two times and generally sleeps a 2, 3 and 4 hour span at night. between 8pm and 7am.  Keira has many more sounds now and her cries are varied depending on what her “problem” is; she clicks her tongue, smacks her lips and squeals.  She still spits up a lot and can be grumpy when her reflux is bothering her.  Her face is very expressive and she shows when she’s enjoying something or is not impressed.

I did a small photoshoot to have “3 month” pictures of her…  I just received backdrops and floordrops I ordered so was excited to use them.  I decided that the old doll crib that my grandfather made my mom and that I used would be perfect for our 7lb 3 month old

This afternoon we went shopping and then for dinner at Boston Pizza – her first time in a restaurant!  Of course she slept in her seat until the food came.

Monday May 14th

We gave Keira a bath this morning and she wasn’t quite a fan of it as she usually is – she did end up with an interesting hairdo when her hair dried today… I guess we’re going to have to remember to brush it down while it’s still wet…
